History

Stroud Preservation Trust was set up as a charitable company in 1982 by local people following a successful campaign to save historic buildings in the Stroud High Street. Its main objective is to preserve buildings of particular historical, architectural and constructional interest in and around Stroud, for the benefit of the community and the nation.

Patrons have included the late David Verey and the late Rev W V Awdry.

Today

Stroud Preservation Trust functions as a revolving fund building preservation trust, supported by loans from the Architectural Heritage Fund and donations from public and charitable bodies and private individuals. It is a member of the Association of Preservation Trusts.
